She is a very popular artist, who has sold over 41 million albums worldwide and more than 150 million songs. Born in Barbados her family listened to reggae music and began singing when she was quite young. In the wake of being disturbed by chaotic nature of her home life and constant fights with her father, she began to get involved with music. Before long she realized that she was on the right track to make it as an accomplished professional. She formed a musical group as a teenager and was able to have perform with producer Evan Rodgers who was highly impressed by the teenager's talents.
